Creating Community
At various points on the course you'll have the opportunity to participate in discussion forums. These are entirely optional, so if you prefer not to participate, that's fine!
The discussion forums enable you to connect with other participants on the course and to share ideas. The forums can be helpful if you're having difficulties with some aspect of your practice and you want to ask for advice on how to overcome the obstacle on your path. Or, maybe you have a eureka! moment and you want to share it with the group. It's a great space for pooling ideas, and for giving and getting support from others on the course.
The Discussion Zones are primarily a space for you and your fellow students to exchange feedback and share ideas. As your tutor, I will read all comments in the discussion space and may comment occasionally but will not reply to every comment posted.
In your settings you can choose whether to receive email notifications when somebody replies to your comments.
Please employ basic forum etiquette, and treat others how you would like to be treated. This course is designed to be a safe, friendly, yogic place for everyone. Therefore, please note the following discussion rules:
- There will be a zero-tolerance approach to abusive or discriminatory behaviour or language of any kind.
- Students from all over the world take part in this course. So, please treat all cultures and nationalities with respect.
- Sharing illegal material or links to illegal material is not allowed.
- Anti-social behaviour which disrupts the experience of other students is not tolerated. If you experience or witness abusive or disruptive behaviour, please contact me directly at [email protected]. All emails will be treated in confidence.
We're all yoga practitioners, so I probably did not need to say the above rules. However, I think it's better to be clear about expectations from the start, so that the discussion forums are a safe space for everyone and we all feel able to express ourselves freely on the course.
